(James) A quick record shot of the female Ring-necked Duck on the river bordering Port Meadow. A presumed escape, but still a nice bird, and I hope to obtain a better photo soon. However, I wondered whether the dirty appearance and distinct lack of white spur pointed to a bit of distant Tufted Duck ancestry...?

(Simeon) James and I cuaght up with the Great Grey Shrike on our patch (Denver Sluice) today (29/11/08). Seen in fading light and very misty conditions hance the image quality...

(James) This Great Northern Diver was only a few metres away from the causeway at Farmoor Reservoir, giving wonderful views. Unfortunately it dived frequently, moving further out, so I was only able to obtain a distant record shot.
